That’s what they are called.

They are the “metal” bars that come down from the ceiling if the roof slants so that a blind person using a cane will knock them with their stick, thus realizing that the sky is not falling….

There’s a press conference being held where I work today entitled

"Press Conference: Police Brutality Against San Francisco Transgender Man Goes to Court".

I’ve read about this in the Bay Area Reporter a few months ago. It seems a trans-man went to visit his partner in his apartment building, and the manager would not let him in. The trans-man explained that his partner was having health problems and could not buzz him in, and that he had been in the building numerous times, and in fact the apartment manager had seen him on more than one occasion…
The trans-man got past the manager, and up to his partners apartment. Shortly afterwards, the police came- grabbed the trans-man, physically assaulted him, and charged him with trespassing.

I’m gonna go listen in on the Press Conference.
