Congratulations to Christina for all her hard work over the years!
From the SF LGBT Center; Front and Centered.
"Over the past year a few of our volunteers have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be publicly thanking them and sharing their involvement with you. This week our hats are off to Christina Martinez, chair of the Center’s Latino Forum and co-founder of Center Women Present!
Volunteering with The Center since 2002, Christina has been actively involved and taken a leadership role within The Center’s Latino Forum, where she works with volunteers to brainstorm and implement activities for the Latina/o community. Her work has garnered much success through our annual Cinco de Mayo and Dia de los Muertos (day of the dead) celebrations among other activities. In 2006 Christina along with another volunteer – Eleanor Palacios, approached The Center to launch a new program, now called Center Women Present which focuses on activities for lesbian, bisexual and transgender women. Throughout her volunteer work with us Christina says “I have met a fantastic group of people that have become some of my best friends and biggest supporters. This sense of community is what keeps me involved and pushes me to create programs so that others can have the same positive experience.” Christina is truly dedicated to The Center – with her caring smile, patience and creativity she is a true leader in our community and we thank her!
