This weekend is upon us- and all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender folk who generally deal with discrimination most days of their lives can relax- enjoy and CELEBRATE in a safe-place.

We have fought long and hard to be equal with our heterosexual brothers and sisters-this weekend in San Francisco is about celebrating our identities and continuing to demand Equality for all LGBT persons.

While we celebrate- we realize the battle is nowhere near over- and many of those who traveled from out of state, as well as some instate, will go back to their homes following the weekend celebration and be once again discriminated against for their sexuality.

For now, they are free and liberated.

We must continue to fight so that this weekend is not the only two days of Freedom for lesbians, gays, and bisexual and transgender persons.

On my way back from a film, 4 girls got into a fist fight on the MUNI- punching eachother in the face- I stood looking for a minute- in shock that this was taking place in front of me- as it was surreal seeing someone in real life hit another in the face- then I thought- they are not going to stop- so I ran down and was yelling at them to stop- then grabbed one of the girls by the arms- but I couldn’t hold her off- and I was yelling at other people on the bus to HELP! They just sat there- so I hit the emergency button and screamed to the driver that there is a fight! They still kept hitting eachother- then this guy comes running back and finally grabs one of the girls and starts yelling at them- he broke up the fight- but then they started hitting again! Finally he got between them all- and said they were staying put because he was calling the police. Of course- no one on the MUNI even moved to help break-up the fight- guess they figure if people are being violent to someone else- they are not the target…

THIS is complete bullshit!
HOW can there be a mistrial??! How can these jurors NOT sentence these men for MURDER?!
Is it acceptable to beat someone to death because someone else is uncomfortable with their gender???!!!!

It should NOT be- and these jurors should be ASHAMED of themselves!!!

Rest In Peace Gwen- we will keep fighting to bring your murderers to justice!

I've seen a few Frameline films on gender and Butch/Femme idenity- and although I support all in the Community- I'm becoming a bit tired of hearing the "do you think I"m Butch or Femme?" question. Only having two genders, two sexes- masculine/femminine is frustrating. I wish people could be comfortable strateling the line- as everyone is a mixture of both- regardless of their sexuality.
