I was talking to someone I know about local bands, and I asked if she liked a particular band. She said yes. I told her that while I thought they were talented, I felt their songs tended to drag on too long, and the singers whinny voice could become quite annoying.
She then told me that that she is friends with the band and is therefore bias about their music.

Yuck.

I do not want my friends telling me my silly cover bands are good just because they know me. I, myself know a lot of musicians and I do not like all of their music. I am supportive and appreciate the talent and commitment to their craft, however I am not obligated to like what they create.

On the subject, these guys called me to play with them again. They are still trying to convert me to their Glam-ways…

Did I mention that I am collecting “Jennifer’s?” Well, it’s true. Not intentionally mind you, the Universe just seems to be throwing them my way, so I thought I’d play along.

So far I have two:

I attempted to make an appointment with my Dr. (whose name is Virginia- keeping things close to home..) but was scheduled with one named Jennifer.
After switching appointments with my girlfriend, I walked in to find my therapists name is Jennifer.

Jennifer’s I have recently come into contact with and am working on ways to incorporate into my life:

The drummer from Tribe 8.
My girlfriend’s new roommate.
The guitarist from the Quails.
The woman I interact with from SF Arts Department (hi Jennifer, this is..umm.. Jennifer…).
NO sign of JLO..or Ben.

One of my favorite things to do in high school was make up words to Cocteau Twins songs, especially my favorite CD “The Pink Opaque”.

Today, I feel like I’m back in high school…
Can you wait, can you wait, is your kitchen having trouble?
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh! He-he-he-he-he-he-hits.

Yesterday someone stole a lap-top from our office. The weird thing is they snuck past those of us who were working in other rooms. I, myself do not have a clear..or even a view of the stairwell, but there are a few others that do. This person snuck up the stairs, went to the end of the hall- to two locked doors, chose one and using a screw-driver or something worked their way into the room...without any others seeing or hearing them. They stole a lap-top and a pam-pilot.
It's sometimes difficult to have faith in person-kind when things like this take place. Why steal from a Community Center?!- we do not have money- AND what we do is try to help people- when people take from us, others suffer.

Sometimes it's difficult not to say "people suck".
